The management of BP Company is morally responsible for maintaining good public relation. The management authorized its technical team to sink drills that lead to an explosion at the Deep-water Horizon rig. The explosions lead to the death of 11 men. This destroyed the public relationship and lead to a legal battle. The UK based retiree expects the company to uphold good public relationship which will translate into a wider market and, therefore, high profitability. The company is responsible for cultivating trust in the public. The company had also falsified tanks inspections at Los Angeles-area refinery with 80% of the tanks failing to meet the set requirements on leakage. BP falsified other reports on the condition of the company’s pipes and tanks. This destroys the image of the business in the eyes of the public (Boxell and Crooks 2010, p.10). It is the moral accountability of management to instil trust and honesty between them and the employees in order to maximize the wealth of the shareholders.
